Manufacturing process

Step 1: In the making of these pieces I will be using Brass wire, black paint, white cement. to start the process firstly I will be melting the recycled brass metal than pour it on the rod mould. than I use the rolling machine with to get my brass metal into proper shape. since we are making wire the part to use on the rolling machine is the part t make square wire on. roll it out until you reach the 7th rolling line.

Step 1: Make a rectangular wire that has a thickness of 1,5mm and a breath of 5mm. in order to get it into this frame, after rolling it out to the 7th line of the rolling machine, use the other part of the rolling machine to make the brass wire flat and a proper rectangular until it reaches 1.5 mm thickness and a breadth of 5mm .

Step 2: create 5 frames  and solder them. the shapes are inspired by the mapping of JHB

Step 3: annel all the pieces and put them in the pickle pot so it cane be easy to solder the pieces together

Step 4: I recycled the white cement that i did not use and applied it to my jewelry pieces mixed

Step 5: I used glue to form a concrete solid foundation.

Manufacturing process

Step 1: cut out a metal wire that is 50mm and use that for the bending part of the ring.

Step 2: make 4 rectangular wires, the thickness must be 2mm and the breadth must be 5mm. make 2 wires 15mm long and make 2 long wires 30mm. than anneal the wires, start bending the 30mm wires into a half round and solder each one on the ends of the 15mm wire to make a half round shape or frame.

Step 3: solder the two half round frames on the 50mm wires ends. make sure you still follow the design and make sure you solder the other one underneath another one. after soldering it put it on the pickle pot than take it out use a brass brush to remove the dirt than start using the sand papers to cleans them and have a clean surface.

Step 4: this is when the pieces is ready to be polished in the polishing machine, don't forget to start with the big mop and end with the small mop

Earing
Step 1 : create two metal strips in brass. thickness of the wire must be 2mm and a breath of 5.5mm anneal the the wires and than bend them with a ring mandrel or anything that has a cylindric shape to form a half round.

Step 2: after you have created the half rounds, cut out 2 metal strips in order to solder them in the middle of the bend wire circles.

Step 3: Make a 2mm thick wire to make O links for the earing. make sure the diameter of the O links is 4mm wide. solder the O links on the made pieces.

Step 4 : put the pieces in the pickle pot than clean them with a brass brush. apply the concrete mix on the negative space, wait or it to dry out than file the surface to leave a clean concrete mix than apply super glue on top. wait for the glue to dry which is 1 minute.

Ring
Step 1 : use a brass strip of rectiangular wire and use that to creste this ring. at first heat up the metal strip than bend it on a ring mendral to a size of N .

Step 2: heat up the metal strips and use a small torch to do it. there after take the metal plate and create a domed circle, make 3 domed circles than anneal them. Use  a doming block to make the metal plate domed.

Step 3: twist the wire on the ring mendral, slice one domed circle into half than use the half and solder it on the edge of the half circle, to create a moon like shape that act as half of the full circle. after all the pieces are soldered.

Step 4: use the twisted ring eds and solder the domed circles on top of it. make sure you use hard solder because of the metal which is brass and the fact that these are seperate pieces with its own weight. balance the heat of the metal pieces in order to solder properly.

Step 5: pour the mix n the empty space of the domed circles and wait for it to dry out which takes 1hour using the sun and 30min with a heater. I than apply super glue to give it a smooth surface.
